Future Odd Group projects can be fitted with Nextec Systems, an innovative and revolutionary breakthrough in electricity generation that converts previously unproductive reactive energy from on or off the grid that is produced in conventional AC currents into useable productive electricity. By recycling reactive energy, energy savings between 50% and 70% can be achieved, and in combination with our “passive” energy strategies, electricity usage for heating and cooling is substantially reduced. For those summer months in Houston when air conditioning is required, on the grid electrical use will be needed for only three hours per day as the system uses its backup power potential to take the user off the grid for as long as 21 hours per day. The Nextec System will produce the same results for off the grid users, or those using solar, wind or generator power; power from these sources will be needed for only three hours per day. During Houston’s more temperate months, electrical use for cooling and heating will not be required as “passive” as well as other “active” green strategies such as cross ventilation and energy efficient insulation keep Odd Group houses and lofts thermally comfortable.
